“The hope of the Year of Evangelisation is that all people will deepen their relationship with Christ and that will be reflected in the way we live our lives in parish and in society,” Archbishop Martin says in his message for the year.

Speaking at the event, the Archbishop said the legacy of scandals had “seriously damaged the image and the credibility of the Church.”

“Yet the Spirit is with the Archdiocese of Dublin and the Spirit is renewing the Archdiocese of Dublin and we know that the Spirit will sustain and renew the Church in its mission today, tomorrow and for the years to come.”

Thanks to Fr Brendan McConvery for pointing out a great site which sends a mystery worshipper to churches across the country. The website is called Ship Of Fools and since ancient times (ok, 1998), it  has been sending Mystery Worshippers to churches worldwide. Travelling incognito, they ask those questions which go to the heart of church life: How long was the sermon? How hard the pew? How cold was the coffee? How warm the welcome?

The only clue they have been there at all is the Mystery Worshipper calling card, dropped discreetly into the collection plate. Check out the website: http://www.ship-of-fools.com/mystery/2005/1138.html

This is a mystery visitors guide to CLONARD, and a revealing little piece it is too !
