“The hope of the Year of Evangelisation is that all people will deepen their relationship with Christ and that will be reflected in the way we live our lives in parish and in society,” Archbishop Martin says in his message for the year.
Speaking at the event, the Archbishop said the legacy of scandals had “seriously damaged the image and the credibility of the Church.”
“Yet the Spirit is with the Archdiocese of Dublin and the Spirit is renewing the Archdiocese of Dublin and we know that the Spirit will sustain and renew the Church in its mission today, tomorrow and for the years to come.”

I beleive that the catholic church is not ruined by the misgivings or mistakes of some individuals. The church as the foundation of Christianity will be stronger than ever. It is not the leadership that is totally to blame because there are some factors that reduced the catholic faithfuls which are the following:
1. Conversion to another religion
2. Work related activities
3. Interfaith marriages which converts one spouse to
another religions
4. Technology
Why conversion?
Many relegions have capiltalized the mistakes of some individual in the Catholic Chruch and made them their center of issues to lure more catholics to convert to their religion. The question, are these not happening to their flock? Or it is not uncovered yet. Because of the bombardment of criticism, some of the members of the catholic community has been poisoned with the idea that their church is not good.Is it not the church or the leadership that we worship, it is God.
Why work related Activities?
A few reasons why we tend to forget to go to the catholic church is that one, we are busy in our work. due to redundancy that was introduced to the workplace, jobs were added to cover all the task.Second, Due to lack of personnel, workers are schduled on shifts, thereby causing more time contraints in going to masses. Thirdly, due to the harsh economic situation, some catholics are forced to take jobs away from home just to stay on their jobs, thus he cannot bring his family to holy masses to fulfill his aboligation as a catholic.
Why Interfaith Marriages?
It is almost always that when a woman marry’s a non-catholic husband, the would take the religion of the husband.And in effect , the siblings will follow that religion. Because Catholic faith is the forefront of all religion, that is why it is their center of attack in order to gain some members.
Why Technology?
Most people nowadays are tied up to new techlogies that emerged.For New Hybrid cars. More families tend to travel every weekends because of thie new car that consumes less fuel and tend to forget their Sunday obligation to hear the mass. On Sundays, families are indulge in watching movies in the luxury of their homes in thier wide screened plasma tvs. These are just examples of the technologies that treatens to replace our religion. And Becasue of masses that are telivised, some catholics opt to hear mass in their own homes.
